What you need to become a teacher in MV:
Trained teachers are welcome to apply to suitable positions advertised in our online database. Non-native speakers must be able to prove a command of German as expected from a teacher. Prospective teachers must therefore provide a certified level C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
In a pilot project, 15 school-specific positions are currently being advertised to start on 15 March 2021 or alternatively, as soon as possible in 2021, for which trained international teachers, especially from Poland, who have a good knowledge of German* and a teaching degree appropriate to the school type are welcome to apply by 3 February 2021. The teachers will complete a qualification process consisting of two modules: the first includes an intensive German course and covers content relevant to the school system of Germany and the land Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The second starts with teaching-specific theory modules before the classes begin and continues for one year on an in-service basis. Employment is on a permanent basis, if the language level C1 is achieved by the end of the second qualification module. Gross salaries range between 3,051.16 to 3,672.04 euros (steps E9 to E12 of the TVL) pending fulfilment of the requirements of the collective wage agreement.
